Announced earlier this year, the Lenovo Legion 5 is the only Ryzen-powered member in the brand’s 2020 laptop lineup. It offers an abundance of performance options for any gamer in a clean, minimalist design. The Legion 5 is also popular among gamers for delivering quality at a relatively low price, making it one of the best gaming notebooks in terms of value. Today, we are going to present to you our Top 5 reasons why you should buy the Lenovo Legion 5.

Top 5 reasons why you should buy the Lenovo Legion 5

1. Improved Display panels with high refresh rates and better color accuracy

The Legion 5 offers fast refresh and deep colors, and is equipped with display options that meet a variety of needs from esports athletes to content creators or professional artists. The latest displays for the 15” provides up to 144Hz refresh rates for gamers looking for a competitive edge. For content creation, the Legion 5 display fills up to 100% of the sRGB color gamut. With DolbyVision enabled, the screen of the Legion 5 is better than ever before.

As with most modern laptops, the bezels are nice and slim. Other design improvements include adding a notch at the top, and balanced weight to help with single-handed opening of the lid. Also added is the new TrueBlock webcam shutter that allows you to easily hide the camera for privacy.

2. New Legion TrueStrike keyboard with number pad and one-piece trackpad

Legion TrueStrike keyboard

During the launch earlier this year, Lenovo spoke of the Legion TrueStrike, which boasted “soft-landing” switches with 1.5mm key travel distance. This is featured on the Legion 5, tailor-made for gamers and designed to be more tactile and responsive as it provides 100% anti-ghosting on all keys and a response time of <1ms. Gamers will also be getting a full-sized keyboard that features dedicated media controls, large arrow keys and a number pad.

It is also quite noticeable that the Legion 5 now has an upgraded one-piece trackpad that’s 39% larger versus the last Legion generation. Also, with anti-oil coating on all the keys, the Legion 5 is built to last.

Tips for you...

 • For best battery life, turn off all keyboard and chassis lighting.
 • Use Fn + Spacebar for quick lighting adjustments.

3. Cooler operation with Legion ColdFront 2.0, leveraging a six-point thermal sensory array and 4 exhausts channel cooling

Lenovo Legion ColdFront

The new Legion ColdFront 2.0 is a fusion of hardware and software technologies and optimization, to allow for a more thermally efficient, quieter, cooler machine. It is designed to direct heat away from gamers’ fingers and mouse hand by pushing hot air out the rear of the laptop. The dual Liquid Crystal Polymer fans and improved 6 points sensor array work together to predict temperatures and move air in advance to keep the system cool and silent.

The Legion 5 utilizes copper heat piping technology to dissipate heat. The 3 heat pipes work with the quad thermal channel design to pull cooler air into the system while pushing system heat out and away with dual liquid crystal polymer fans with 67 blades, each just 0.3mm thin. A six-point thermal sensor array inside the system predicts thermal needs and manages the fans. With the enhancements in cooling, Legion 5 can support up to system TDP of 135W on CPU & GPU combined load.

4. Equipped with AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors

When Lenovo announced the new Legion gaming-laptop lineup, perhaps the most exciting model was the Lenovo Legion 5. After all, the mid-range Lenovo laptop was the only one with AMD Ryzen 4000 processors.

The new Ryzen 4000 H-series lets you do more and is faster than ever before. AMD’s Zen 2 core architecture uses a 7nm fabrication process which delivers an unprecedented increase in speed and performance for multitasking and heavy workloads. From app startup and web browsing, to serious productivity and entertainment, everything is faster and more responsive.

5. Better battery life with Lenovo Q-Control and Rapid Charge Pro technology

Another interesting feature is the new quick fan control shortcut — Lenovo Q Control 3.0. By clicking Fn + Q, you will toggle between three modes – Quiet (lower CPU voltage, lower fan speed, better battery), Balanced (day to day automatic management), and Performance (high CPU voltage, high fan speeds).

Tips for you...
Use settings in Lenovo Vantage to automatically switch to Performance mode when the game launches for fuss-free gaming performance.

Other power-enhancing features include Rapid Charge Pro (from 0 to 50 percent battery in 30 minutes) and a battery sip feature (instinctively releases power in small doses for more battery life consistency).

Below battery life is based on Lenovo labs testing – (60Whr battery, Thermal mode = Balanced, Hybrid Mode = Enabled)

As a bonus, the Legion 5 comes bundled with Lenovo’s 3-Year Premium Care warranty solution with comprehensive software and hardware support, 24×7 direct access to Lenovo technicians, annual PC Health Check, and even on-site repair on the next business day, if available. This holistic innovation on both devices and services, along with other technologies, makes Lenovo one of the industry’s most prolific end-to-end global technology organizations that delivers smarter technology for more people and businesses to unlock their potential.

And that ends our list of top 5 reasons why you should buy the Lenovo Legion 5! As with all laptop brands in the market, usually quality varies with the price of the laptop you’re considering to get. Still, Lenovo is no doubt ahead of the competition when it comes to delivering quality at a relatively low price. Do you agree? Share us your thoughts!
