NEOGEO AES+ Returns for 2026: A Classic SNK Console Comes Back
SNK and PLAION have officially announced the return of the NEOGEO AES+, with a release date set for November 12, 2026. Pre-orders are now open, bringing back one of the most iconic home arcade systems for a new generation.

Instead of following the usual retro console trend, the AES+ focuses on staying as close as possible to the original hardware experience.
Not Your Typical Retro Console
The original NEOGEO AES was known for delivering arcade-level performance at home, something that set it apart from other consoles of its time.
With the AES+, that same idea continues. Instead of using emulation, the system runs on ASIC chips designed to behave like the original hardware. It also supports original NEOGEO AES cartridges, making it usable for collectors who still own classic games.

Modern Features, Minimal Changes
While the core experience stays the same, the AES+ adds a few modern features to make it easier to use today:
– HDMI output (up to 1080p)
– AV output for CRT displays
– Built-in high score saving
– Lower power consumption
– BIOS and system controls accessible on the console
Launch Game Lineup
At launch, ten classic NEOGEO titles will be available:
Metal Slug, The King of Fighters 2002, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Big Tournament Golf, Shock Troopers, Samurai Shodown V Special, Pulstar, Twinkle Star Sprites, Magician Lord, and Over Top.

Would you buy it?
The NEOGEO AES+ is not positioned as a typical retro console. Instead, it focuses on accuracy and hardware authenticity.
It’s more aligned with collectors and enthusiasts who want the original arcade experience at home, rather than a simplified plug-and-play system.
